Surgical Oncology
Surgical oncology is the branch of medicine that combines surgery and cancer treatment. It is a specialized field of medicine focused on the surgical management of cancer, such as the diagnosis, removal, and staging of tumors. The goal of surgical oncology is to remove the cancer, minimize the risk of recurrence, and improve the patient's quality of life. It is an essential part of cancer treatment, as it can provide the best outcome, as well as provide the most information about the cancer and the best chances for a long-term survival. In addition to surgical removal of tumors, surgical oncologists use other treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, to ensure the best possible outcome for their patients. Surgical oncologists also provide support and guidance to their patients throughout the treatment process.
