Structural Determinants
Structural determinants refer to the components that have an effect on the 3D structure of a molecule. These components, such as intra- and intermolecular interactions, can impact a molecule's properties, including its conformation, solubility, and behavior. Structural determinants are particularly important in developing and designing drugs, as the 3D structure of a molecule can influence its ability to bind to a target, thereby determining the drug's efficacy and safety. Determining structural determinants is also crucial for designing diagnostic molecules, such as DNA probes, antibodies, and aptamers. By understanding the structural determinants of a molecule, researchers can develop more effective and powerful molecular tools to diagnose, monitor and treat a range of diseases.
