Progestogens
Progestogens are hormones that are important for female reproductive health. They are made up of progesterone, which supports pregnancy and prevents the uterus from rejecting a fertilized egg. Progestogens also play a role in regulating the menstrual cycle, preparing the uterus for a potential pregnancy and helping produce breast milk. They also help to protect against endometrial cancer, fibroids, and endometriosis. Progestogens are mainly used in hormone replacement therapy for menopausal women and for contraception. They are also used to treat abnormal bleeding, ovarian cysts, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Progestogens are a vital part of female reproductive health and continue to play an increasingly important role in modern medicine.
