Pid - Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is a serious infection of the female reproductive organs that can cause severe internal damage. It is often caused by a sexually transmitted infection (STI), such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. PID is the leading cause of infertility in women, and it can also lead to chronic pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy, and other serious complications. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of PID is essential to prevent long-term damage and reduce the risk of infertility. Early treatment usually involves a course of antibiotics, and may include other interventions depending on the severity of the infection.
