Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Left untreated, it can cause long-term health complications, including pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and an increased risk of HIV infection. It is one of the most common STDs in the United States. Treatment for gonorrhea includes antibiotics, typically given as a single dose or a series of doses depending on the type of infection. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment are essential for preventing further complications.
