Genital Warts

Genital warts are a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are typically found on the genitalia, anus and surrounding areas of both men and women. Genital warts can be spread through sexual contact, including oral, vaginal, and anal sex. If left untreated, these warts can resolve on their own, remain unchanged, or increase in size and number. Treatment for genital warts may include prescription creams, cryosurgery (freezing), laser therapy or surgical removal. It is important to be tested for other STIs if genital warts are detected and to practice safe sex in order to prevent transmission.
