Bv - Bacterial Vaginosis
Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is an infection of the vagina caused by an overgrowth of certain types of bacteria. It is a common type of vaginal infection that affects women of all ages, and can cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms including a strong fishy odor, unusual discharge, and irritation. BV is not caused by the same bacteria that cause sexually transmitted infections, though having sex can sometimes be a factor in developing BV. Treatment of BV typically requires antibiotics, although some women find that changing their lifestyle and using natural remedies like probiotics and yogurt can also help. It is important to get treated for BV as it can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, an increased risk of developing other STIs, and even a higher risk of miscarriage.
