Spiritual Care
Spiritual care is defined as a care approach which recognizes an individual’s spiritual beliefs and practices as an essential component of their health and well-being. It is used to help people explore and manage spiritual needs, beliefs, and values, while addressing physical, psychological, social, and cultural needs. It assists in recognizing and understanding the spiritual perspective of someone’s life story, and provides a platform for promoting physical, psychological, and spiritual healing. Spiritual care is an important tool for promoting holistic health, as it helps increase a person’s understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the world around them, and provides the opportunity to make meaning out of their experiences. The practice of spiritual care can take many forms, including talking with someone about their beliefs, providing resources to help individuals explore their spiritual identities, facilitating group activities and discussions related to spiritual matters, and providing emotional, moral, and spiritual support. The ultimate goal of spiritual care is to promote emotional and spiritual wellbeing, which can lead to improved physical health.
