Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures. It affects approximately 1 in 100 people worldwide and is the fourth most common neurological disorder. Seizures are caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain, and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms include convulsions, loss of consciousness, and changes in behavior, sensation, and/or awareness. Treatment options include medications, diet modifications, and/or surgery, depending on the severity of the condition. Early diagnosis and treatment are key for managing symptoms, reducing risk of injury, and improving quality of life for those with epilepsy.
