Child Psychiatry
Child psychiatry is a field of medicine dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders in children. Its aim is to promote the overall psychological development of children, addressing issues such as: emotional, social, behavioral and cognitive development; disorders in learning and educational difficulties; and the prevention and treatment of psychological traumas. It uses a multi-disciplinary approach, merging clinical psychiatry, psychological techniques, and interventions from related fields such as child development and systems of family therapy. It is important for promoting healthy life trajectories for children, as well as helping to identify and alleviate the risks for long-term mental health disorders.
