By examining the structure and function of cells, they can identify diseases in patients and determine the best course of treatment. Pathology is a key element of modern healthcare, with its use ranging from cancer screening to determining the cause of death in cases of sudden death. Pathology is also an important part of research in both medical and veterinary science, and has played an instrumental role in medical breakthroughs in recent years.
