Brachytherapy
Brachytherapy is a type of radiation therapy used to treat cancer. It involves placing a small sealed source of radiation inside or next to a tumor. This targeted form of treatment delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor and minimizes the exposure of healthy surrounding tissue. By limiting the damage to healthy tissue, it can reduce side effects such as skin and bowel problems that can occur with traditional radiation therapy. This makes it an ideal treatment for early-stage cancers and those located in sensitive areas, such as the head and neck. Brachytherapy can also be used in combination with other treatments such as chemotherapy or surgery, to improve outcomes.
