Bicalutamide
Bicalutamide is an important anti-androgen medication used in the treatment of prostate cancer. It works by blocking the action of the male hormone testosterone, slowing the growth and spread of cancer cells. Bicalutamide is used in combination with other medications, such as a luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) agonist, to reduce the amount of testosterone in the body and reduce the severity of cancer symptoms. It is also used in hormone-sensitive prostate cancer as an alternative to surgery or radiation. By blocking the action of testosterone, bicalutamide can help to slow or stop the growth of cancer cells, making it an important treatment option for prostate cancer.
