Pharmacogenetics
Pharmacogenetics is a medical field of study focusing on how an individual’s genetic makeup affects their response to various medications. By understanding the underlying genetic variations of individual patients, health care providers are better able to develop tailored treatments that are more effective and safer, with fewer side effects. Pharmacogenetics can be used to determine which medications may work best for a patient, as well as the correct dose of each medication. This field of study has the potential to revolutionize the way medicines are prescribed, helping to deliver more accurate and personalized treatments for many different diseases.
