Personalized Medicine in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Personalized medicine is an emerging field of medicine that focuses on tailoring treatments to suit an individual's specific genetic makeup and medical history. This approach is particularly relevant for the management of neurodegenerative diseases, given their complex and heterogeneous nature. Neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases are caused by a myriad of genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors, making it difficult to identify effective treatments. Personalized medicine can provide a tailored therapy which aims to maximize therapeutic benefit while minimizing side effects. This could lead to improved outcomes for patients with neurodegenerative diseases, and a better quality of life.
