Preventive Medicine
Preventive medicine is an approach to health care focused on preventing illnesses and health problems before they occur. This proactive model of health care assesses an individual's risk factors and takes steps to reduce or eliminate them. Preventive medicine is used to maintain overall health and well-being, as well as reduce the risk of serious health conditions, like diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. This type of medical practice also involves screening for early detection of diseases and health conditions, lifestyle modifications, immunizations, and healthy living education. By remaining proactive and taking steps to improve our health, we can help reduce the burden on our health care system and lead healthier and longer lives.
