Pelvic Pain
Pelvic pain is an uncomfortable sensation that is felt in the abdominal area and in the area of the hips and lower back. It can range from a dull, weak ache to a sharp, intense pain. It can be caused by a number of different medical conditions including endometriosis, irritable bowel syndrome, and infection. Pelvic pain can also be caused by trauma, such as from a fall or a car accident. Other potential causes include inflammation of the pelvic organs, ovarian cysts, and pregnancy complications. Treatment options depend on the cause of the pain and may include physical therapy, medications, and/or surgery. Pelvic pain can be managed with lifestyle modification, relaxation techniques, and/or counseling. It is important to seek medical attention when pelvic pain becomes chronic or severe.
