Orofacial Pain
Orofacial pain refers to any pain or discomfort that occurs in the head, neck, and face regions. It is a complex condition, with symptoms ranging from dull, nagging pain that lasts for days to sudden, sharp pains that may come and go. It is caused by a number of factors, including muscle tension in the jaw, disorders of the teeth or jaw, dental treatments, certain kinds of medication, and even stress. Orofacial pain can have a significant effect on a person’s physical and emotional wellbeing, as well as their quality of life. Treatment for orofacial pain typically involves a combination of lifestyle changes, stress management, and medications. In more serious cases, surgery may be necessary. It is important for individuals who experience orofacial pain to seek medical advice in order to obtain treatment that specifically targets the root cause.
