Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine is a field of medicine aimed at preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases that affect adults. It is a specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease in adults. Internists focus on the diagnosis and medical treatment of diseases or conditions that affect adults, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, infectious diseases, and cancer. Internists are often called upon to manage a patient's long-term health, provide consultations to other physicians, and provide preventive care. Internal Medicine is a very important field of medicine, and its principles are used in many specialties including family medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, and endocrinology. In addition, internal medicine is used in many other fields, including public health and epidemiology.
