Molecular Imaging Strategies
Molecular imaging is a form of medical imaging that uses various imaging techniques to detect and track the presence of molecules inside the body at a cellular level. This technique is enabling researchers to gain insight into the inner workings of diseases and biological processes, as well as aiding in the development of treatments to improve patient care. Molecular imaging uses a variety of scanners and probes, such as, positron emission tomography (PET), computed tomography (CT), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to detect and combine signals from molecules. By taking advantage of the capability of these imaging techniques to monitor and detect the onset, progression and response to treatments, molecular imaging has the potential to provide an unprecedented level of insight into the health of a patient and to revolutionize the way medicine is practiced.
