Cognition and Aging
Aging has an impact on cognition. Cognitive abilities, such as memory and problem solving, can decline as we get older. This can have a major impact on daily life and can create a risk of developing age-related neurological disorders. Therefore, understanding and researching the effects of aging on cognition is important in order to develop strategies to counteract the decline and enhance cognitive abilities in older adults. Cognitive aging research is focused on understanding how different cognitive processes are affected by aging and developing interventions and strategies to help older adults maintain and improve their cognitive abilities. This research also has implications for the diagnosis and treatment of age-related neurological disorders, helping to improve the quality of life for older adults.
