Neonatal Transport

Neonatal transport is the process of transferring an infant between medical facilities, usually between hospitals, before or after birth. This medical process is used to ensure that newborns who are in need of specialized care can get it quickly, safely, and efficiently. The transport team consists of specially trained nurses, respiratory therapists, and physicians. Neonatal transport teams typically use specialized ambulances or helicopters equipped with medical equipment and supplies necessary for the safe movement of the newborn. Neonatal transport can be a life-saving measure for newborns in need of critical care, and is most often used for premature infants, those with complex congenital conditions, or those born in remote or rural locations.
