Neonatal Immunology
Neonatal immunology is the branch of medical science that deals with the study of the specific immune responses of newborns (neonates). It is a rapidly evolving field that is designed to better understand the development and maturation of the infant immune system, as it has an important role in the overall health and well-being of newborn infants. Its applications include the development of preventive treatments for diseases, along with treatments for infections and autoimmune disorders and other immune related diseases. The main focus of neonatal immunology is to better understand the complex biological, environmental, and social risks that may contribute to neonatal immune health and to determine the best interventions to optimize infants' health outcomes.
