Scleroderma
Scleroderma is a chronic, autoimmune disorder of the body's connective tissue and blood vessels, characterised by hardening and tightening of the skin and other organs. It is a potentially serious condition, but with proper medical care can be managed. Scleroderma is associated with joint and muscle pain, rigidity, and swelling, as well as fatigue. It can also be associated with skin, digestive, and cardiac involvement. Treatment of scleroderma is based on the specific symptoms, and may include medications, physical therapy, dietary changes, and psychological support. In some cases, biological therapies and surgery may be necessary. Early diagnosis and treatment can help reduce complications and improve quality of life for those with scleroderma.
