Multiple Sclerosis Treatment
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurological disorder that is caused by the damage of the covering of nerve cells, known as the myelin sheath, in the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms of MS differ from person to person but include vision loss, muscle spasms, weakness, fatigue, and more. Treatment of MS focuses on managing symptoms, slowing progression of the disease, and improving quality of life. Treatment options for MS include medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle changes. Early and aggressive intervention has been found to significantly reduce the rate of progression of the disease, minimize the frequency of relapses, and reduce the severity and duration of exacerbations.
