Multiple Sclerosis Relapses
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. It is characterized by relapses—episodes of symptoms that can include visual disturbances, mobility problems, difficulty with coordination and balance, and difficulty speaking. Relapses can be unpredictable and can vary in intensity and duration. Treatment usually involves a combination of medications, therapy, lifestyle changes, and other interventions to reduce the frequency and severity of relapses and to help manage symptoms. With early diagnosis and aggressive management, the progression of MS can be slowed, enabling people living with the disease to maintain their independence and lifestyle.
