Microbiome

A microbiome is a collection of microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and archaea, that live in and on the human body. It has been found to play a critical role in maintaining health and preventing disease. Research is beginning to uncover the many ways in which the microbiome influences our health, ranging from affecting our digestion to influencing our psychological well-being. There is a growing interest in using microbiome manipulation to improve health, such as through diet and probiotics. The knowledge and understanding of microbiomes is still growing, with potential applications to areas such as personalized medicine, diagnostics, and therapeutics.
