Fingolimod
Fingolimod, also known as Gilenya, is a medication used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. It is an immunomodulating drug that works by blocking certain types of immune cells from leaving the lymph nodes and entering into the central nervous system. By blocking these cells from entering the brain, Fingolimod helps reduce inflammation and relapses. Fingolimod is usually prescribed as a once-daily pill and is considered to be an effective long-term treatment for multiple sclerosis. Additionally, Fingolimod has been studied for its potential beneficial effects in treating other diseases such as cancers, Type 1 diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and HIV/AIDS. In conclusion, Fingolimod is an effective and well-tolerated treatment for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis, with potential uses in other diseases as well.
