Exacerbation

An exacerbation is a medical term used to describe a worsening of a condition or disease. It is when the symptoms become more and more severe, and the cause is often linked to an infection or other environmental factor. Exacerbations are known to be a major cause of hospitalizations and mortality worldwide. They can be managed through a proactive approach of preventive strategies and the timely use of medications and lifestyle changes. By identifying and managing exacerbations, healthcare providers can reduce the severity of a condition and reduce the need for hospitalizations and other costly treatments.
