Etiology of Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a condition in which the arteries become hardened and narrowed due to the accumulation of fatty deposits known as plaque. It is the main cause of heart attack and stroke, and is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The exact etiology of atherosclerosis is not known, but it is thought to be caused by a variety of factors, including high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, and a sedentary lifestyle. Modifying risk factors and controlling blood pressure and cholesterol levels can help reduce the risk of developing this condition, and are essential in managing the disease. Prompt and effective treatment is paramount to reducing the risk of potentially life-threatening complications such as stroke or heart attack.
