Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states and events in defined populations, and the application of this study to the control of health problems. It is a science that deals with the incidence, distribution, and possible control of diseases and other factors related to health. It is used in public health research, policy formulation, and service planning, and to identify risk factors associated with disease and adverse health outcomes. Epidemiological studies can also help identify potential interventions and policies to reduce the negative consequences of health issues, and can provide valuable information to inform public health strategies to improve population health.
