Disease-modifying Therapies

Disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) are medications that affect the underlying mechanisms of a medical condition, helping to slow or stop its progression. They are commonly used for the treatment of degenerative and autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. DMTs can improve the long-term outcomes of those suffering from these chronic conditions, by reducing the symptoms, slowing the development of disability, and reducing the risk of further complications. By intervening early and taking a proactive approach to treatment, patients are able to better manage their condition and maintain an improved quality of life.
