Toxicology is the branch of science that deals with the study of the adverse effects of chemicals on living organisms. It encompasses the study of the toxic effects of drugs and toxins, including their mechanisms of action, detection and quantification, risk assessment and management, and the development of antidotes for poisoning. Toxicologists work in a wide range of fields including medicine, public health, safety, environment, agriculture, and industry.
