Post-fixation

Post-fixation is a type of tissue preparation used to preserve tissues for further study and analysis. It involves the fixation of tissues to a compound containing osmium tetroxide, a chemical which hardens tissue, taking it through a dehydration process. The osmium tetroxide helps to retain the tissue structure, allowing it to be further studied. Post-fixation is used in many areas of research, including histology, pathology, electron microscopy, and in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Post-fixation helps to preserve the tissue, allowing for greater accuracy and insight when studying tissue samples. The post-fixation technique is used to study and analyze a variety of cell and tissue types, providing important information about the origin, structure, and function of the tissue under study.
