Phospholipids
Phospholipids are a type of molecule that has a hydrophilic "head" and two hydrophobic "tails". This structure allows them to form cell membranes and give them the flexibility to form various structures such as liposomes. Their structure also enables them to form micelles, which are used in cosmetics and detergents as surfactants. Phospholipids are essential for cellular structure and homeostasis, providing stability and permeability to the cell membrane. Phospholipids also serve as a source of energy and as biochemical signaling molecules. Furthermore, they are important in the absorption and transport of nutrients across membranes.
