Glycans

Glycans are a class of complex molecules made of various sugars connected by glycosidic bonds. As the building blocks of glycoproteins and glycolipids, they are important components in biological processes such as cell-cell recognition, hormone transport, and gene expression. Glycans also play a role in many diseases, including cancer and immune disorders. Glycan analysis is an important tool for understanding these processes, as well as for developing new cancer therapies and diagnostic tools. In addition, glycans are increasingly used in food science and biotechnology for the production of food additives, functional foods, and dietary supplements.
