Exosomes

Exosomes are small membrane-enclosed nanovesicles released from most cell types in the body. They carry proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and other molecules from the parent cell from which they were released. Exosomes have the potential to regulate processes ranging from immune responses to tissue regeneration and repair. They are currently being studied in various areas of biomedical research and have potential applications in diagnostics, prognostics, and drug delivery. Exosomes have great potential to be used as biomarkers for diseases, to diagnose and treat various ailments, and as a drug delivery system.
