Atherogenesis
Atherogenesis is the process of fatty deposits building up in arterial walls leading to the formation of plaques that can ultimately block the arteries and create a wide range of cardiovascular health complications. Studies have indicated that this process is the primary cause of coronary heart disease, the leading cause of death in most Western countries. Atherogenesis can be managed through lifestyle changes, such as increasing physical activity, eating a heart-healthy diet, quitting smoking, and controlling blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Early detection of the process through regular screenings is also important to identify and treat it.
