Zooplankton

Zooplankton are small animals, such as krill, jellyfish, and larvae, that live in aquatic environments and are important components of aquatic ecosystems. They are an important source of food for many larger fish and marine mammals such as whales and seals. By consuming phytoplankton, zooplankton help to control the amount of algae in the water, providing natural filtration for aquatic environments. They are also an important part of the global ocean food web, making them essential for the health of the world’s oceans. Additionally, zooplankton play an important role in the carbon cycle, helping to sequester carbon dioxide in the ocean.
