Wetland Conservation
Wetlands are vital ecosystems that provide ecological and economic benefits for humans. Conservation of these areas is essential for a healthy environment, as they act as natural water filters, help prevent floods, and serve as biodiversity hotspots among other benefits. Wetlands are also important for agriculture, fisheries, and recreation. Wetland conservation efforts involve protection and maintenance of existing wetlands, as well as restoration and creation of new wetlands. Examples of activities include controlling water levels through dams and levees, preventing pollution from runoff and industrial waste, and protecting wetland species from over-harvesting. The long-term success of wetland conservation efforts requires careful management and collaboration among stakeholders.
