Viruses

Viruses are types of infectious agents that have their own genetic material and often reproduce inside living cells. Viruses can cause many significant health conditions, such as influenza, HIV and the common cold. They are throughout the environment and can spread rapidly, making them difficult to control. Vaccines are a common tool used to prevent viral infections, by introducing weakened or harmless versions of the virus. Treatment for viral infections often involve the usage of antiviral drugs, which help reduce the rate at which the virus attacks the host cells and reproduces itself.
