Sapovirus
Sapovirus is a genus of viruses in the family Rhabdoviridae that infects humans, pigs, and other animals. It is significantly associated with gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the digestive tract that leads to symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fever. It spreads via fecal-oral transmission, primarily through contact with contaminated food and water sources. Proper hygiene of food, hands, and other surfaces is an effective way to prevent the transmission of sapovirus and other enteric diseases. Diagnosis of sapovirus is typically done via stool sampling, and treatment generally includes hydration, electrolyte replacement, and antibiotics if needed.
