Microbial Ecology

Microbial ecology is the study of the interactions between microbial communities and their environment. It is an important division of ecology that focuses on microbial species and their interactions with one another, as well as with their environment. This field seeks to understand how different species of microbes, including bacteria and fungi, interact in various ecosystems and how this impacts their ecology. Microbial ecology is used to study key aspects of the environment, such as the effects of climate change on microbial populations, biogeochemical cycles and the behavior of pollutants. It also helps us to understand how microbial communities influence the health of our oceans, soils and atmosphere. Microbial ecology is vital to understanding biogeochemical cycles and the functioning of ecosystems as a whole.
