Desalination
Desalination is the process of removing salt from water, such as sea water, in order to make it suitable for drinking and other purposes. This process is of great significance because it can be used to provide fresh water to coastal areas where other sources of fresh water are limited or non-existent. Desalination is becoming increasingly important in arid climates, where access to fresh water is becoming increasingly scarce due to population growth and changing land use patterns. Desalination is also used for industrial processes, such as wastewater treatment and energy production, as well as for agricultural purposes, such as crop production and soil salinity management.
