Vasculitis

Vasculitis is an umbrella term that refers to any inflammatory disorder of the blood vessels. It results in damage to the inner walls of the vessels, leading to swelling and narrowing of the blood vessels. This, in turn, can lead to tissue damage and organ dysfunction due to reduced blood flow. Vasculitis is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that can affect any organ or tissue in the body, including the lungs, skin, nervous system, and kidneys. With prompt diagnosis and treatment, most people can achieve long-term remission or cures. Treatment usually involves corticosteroids and other immunosuppressant medications such as methotrexate or azathioprine.
