Resistin

Resistin is a hormone secreted by fat cells (adipocytes). It is involved in regulating glucose and fatty acid metabolism, and has been implicated in the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Its levels are often elevated in overweight and obese individuals, leading to an increased risk of metabolic disorders. Resistin has been studied as a potential target for therapeutic intervention in the treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Research is ongoing to explore the molecular mechanisms by which resistin affects metabolic health.
