Prostatectomy
A prostatectomy is a surgical procedure to remove all or part of the prostate gland. It is used to treat prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and other forms of prostatic diseases. The prostatectomy can be performed as a robotic, open or laparoscopic surgery, depending on the clinical circumstances. The procedure has significantly improved the quality of life for many, providing relief from urinary symptoms, reducing the risk of developing metastatic disease, and significantly increasing a patient’s chance of surviving prostate cancer.
