Prostaglandins

Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances that are synthesized in the human body primarily in the kidney, walls of the stomach and reproductive organs. They play a role in regulating many physiological and cellular processes, such as inflammation, blood pressure, blood clotting and contraction of the uterus, as well as other aspects of the body’s metabolism. These molecules can also be synthesized from unsaturated fatty acids found in some foods, such as fish and nuts. Prostaglandins are important for maintaining normal physiological functions and for treating various medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, inflammation, labor pain and allergies. They have become increasingly popular as potential treatments for a variety of diseases due to their potential anti-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory related activities.
