Polymyalgia Rheumatica
Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects the muscles of the shoulders, neck, and hips. Symptoms may include pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders, and hips, fever, weight loss, and tiredness. PMR is a common condition, typically affecting people over the age of 50, and is more common in women than men. Treatment usually consists of a combination of medications to reduce inflammation and manage pain. It is important to recognise and treat PMR early, as it can result in serious complications if left untreated. PMR is a significant medical condition, but with prompt and proper treatment, the symptoms can be effectively managed and the individual can live a healthy life.
