Neurology/neurophysiology
Neurophysiology is the study of the nervous system, including the molecular, cellular and biochemical structures and functions of the cells that make up the nervous system. It is a field of medicine dedicated to understanding how the brain, nerves and muscles operate together to produce physical functions and behaviors. Neurophysiology is essential for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of neurological disorders, as well as for developing and optimizing treatments for neurological diseases. Neurology and neurophysiology are both important for understanding the body’s functioning, as neurophysiology focuses on the nervous system and neurology is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. Neurophysiology provides the data and insight necessary for a better understanding of how the body works, enabling practitioners to make better decisions when treating issues related to the nervous system.
